Invictus, Clint Eastwood (2010)

"I am color-blind" 

영화 삽입곡 중에 이런 가사가 있다. 처음에 이게 무슨 의미인가 싶었는데 직역을 하면

나는 색맹이라는 말이고 이 영화에 맞는 의역을 하자면 나는 피부색 즉 "인종차별"을 하지 않는다라는 말이 된다. 

오랜 내전과 인종차별정책 "apartheid"로 멍든 민족의 화합을 위해 만델라 자신을 27년동안이나 정치범으로

수감시킨 자들을 "용서" 한다고 하였다. 

남아프리카의 역사만큼 고난과 분단의 역사를 안고 살아가는 우리 나라 역시 

이런 사랑과 용서를 가치관으로 바탕으로 저들을 끌어 안을 수 있는 그런 지도자를 바라는건 무리일까?

다음은 만델라가 27년동안의 옥살이를 버틸 수 있게 해주었다는 윌리엄 어네스트 헨리라는 시인의 invictus라는 시이다. 

Invictus

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
